boot topper

I saw some boot toppers on Pinterest the other day. They were really cute and easy to make, so when I needed something to jazz up my boots, I looked around my house to see what I could use. I found this t-shirt with three quarter sleeves, which had holes in it. I don’t know why it was still in my drawer, but I’m glad it was available. First, I cut off the sleeves.

Next, I cut seven holes around the hem of the cut off sleeves. You can cut as many holes as you like, just be sure to make it an odd number so that the ribbon threads correctly. I didn’t have any ribbon that was the color I wanted, so I improvised with this bias tape. I threaded my makeshift ribbon starting from the outside going in, then out, all the way around. You should end up with both ends of the ribbon on the outside of the sleeve.

That’s it! Slide the sleeves on like leg warmers. I guess they really are like leg warmers, but these are thinner since I used a t-shirt. The adorable picture I saw that inspired me to make these is here. She used a sweater in hers, and they look more like leg warmers. Give it a try!
