This is a fun DIY gift idea for etched mason jars. I don’t know about you, but I think that mason jars are one of the greatest inventions of all time. They are sooo useful. They make me think of canning with my mom, which is something I’d like to do a lot more. I put mason jar luminaria on my porch over Christmas with epsom salt in the bottom and tea light candles. It was really simple and pretty. Pinterest has tons of mason jars as drinking glasses and light fixtures, too. So many possibilities…
For these drinking glasses I used etching cream that I found at Hobby Lobby. Be sure to bring your 40% off coupon when you go, because depending on the size of the bottle it could be as much as $20. I also used stencils found at Hobby Lobby to etch the mason jars. The directions on the bottle of etching cream didn’t say to leave it on for 30 minutes, but that’s what I did. I added daisy lids that I found on Etsy and a package of striped straws. Won’t these be great for iced tea or lemonade?
