Felt Heart Necklace Tutorial
This is an easy Valentine’s project. These are the supplies I used. They were all from my craft supplies, but originally came from Hobby Lobby, including the textured red felt. The jewelry supplies are often 50% off, so it’s a good idea to check each week so you can get the best deal.
I started by cutting two pieces of felt into heart shapes. Then I sewed a button onto one piece of the felt (the button was sewed to the textured side of the felt). This was so I had something firm to glue the heart to the metal bottle cap of the necklace. I’ve found in these projects that engineering is quite important, and having a structurally sound way to connect things makes them last a lot longer.
Next I hand sewed the pieces of felt together. While I still had an opening left between the hearts (see photo), I filled them with felt scraps that I had sitting on my craft table from recent projects, then completed sewing the two pieces together.
The last thing I did was to glue the button to the metal bottle cap using E6000 glue. That’s it. I have a stuffed heart necklace. My daughter was kind enough to model it for me. She was already wearing other necklaces, but I think they all look good together. We might even wear this after Valentine’s Day.
