November is a month that reminds us to give thanks for all the blessings we have. Sometimes it’s easy to feel down about the things we don’t have or the things in life that we don’t think are going our way. I’ve found that when I feel this way, it’s best to turn the focus away from myself and think about someone else. So, in the spirit of building a more grateful heart this month I’m going to perform 22 Random Acts of Kindness, one for each day leading up to and including Thanksgiving. They will be simple things that I hope will make someone else smile. If I don’t post a RAK each day, I will share a few at a time. This was inspired by my friend Kate, who did this for her birthday. Day 12. Leave a kind comment on a blog post I enjoyed. It means the world to a blogger when you let them know that you took away something beneficial from their post. Leaving kind comments is one of my favorite things to do. {And one of my favorite things people do for me.}
Day 13. Give books to a teaching student. One of my friends is just about to finish her teaching credential. I gave her all the chapter books that my kids have outgrown so she can use them in her classroom library.
Day 14. Give someone else’s child a ride home from school. I can’t tell you how many times I was the beneficiary of this kindness when I was a working mom, and how much it helped me. I was happy to be able to help another mom by taking her child home from school.
