Today’s Wear It On Your Head Wednesday is brought to you by the mortarboard, because Maddie {our second child} graduated from high school this week. A wonderful thing to wear on your head {especially if you want to make your parents happy}, the traditional graduate cap, commonly worn with an academic gown, symbolizes the earning of a diploma. In the case of a high school diploma, it also signifies a transition from childhood into adulthood.

As I look at this photo of Maddie, I also know that this is a changing of the guard. For the first 18 years, her dad and I have led the charge regarding her education, and while she was a very willing participant, we made the final decisions. Now, we step aside and let her take the lead, praying that we have instilled in her a life-long love of learning. And we are smiling. Good job, Maddie!
