I’m Anna

It all started at Christmas last year. I hadn’t been all that crafty for a long time. We’re talking years. When I got stuck while trying to think of gifts to give the people I love, I decided to think about it from the outside in. I began making gift bags customized for the recipient. I made a bag with a guitar on it for my nephew who plays in a band and another with a sun and canoe for my brother-in-law who loves the outdoors. My tennis playing son’s bag was adorned with, you guessed it, a tennis racquet. For my friends I made bags with steaming coffee cups on them. Once the creative juices started flowing, thinking of the gifts got easier. My friends got coffee themed gifts, with coffee beans, mugs, etc. Not everyone received a gift that matched their bag, but even when the gift itself wasn’t all that creative, the presentation was definitely personal.

The crafting didn’t stop after Christmas. There were, after all, January birthdays. Then my favorite shop downtown had an open submission for an art walk display. I entered a few gift bags as “art.” I intended to put my name down as “anonymous” until my husband suggested I enter as Anna Nimmity. And so it began. The shop owner asked if she could start selling the bags that day.

So now, I’m Betsy at AnnaNimmity. I create one-of-a-kind packaging for one-of-a-kind loved ones. And that’s just the start.
