Map Storage Box
Happy Monday! I hope your week is off to a great start. Today I’m sharing a project that came about because I’ve been cleaning out our books. I found this atlas that was out of date when I bought it at a library sale many years ago. Now it’s even more out of date. So, I decided to use one of the pages from the book to decorate the box that I use for storing my felt. The box came with some wooden train parts back in the days when my boys were playing with Thomas the Tank Engine trains all the time. The trains were eventually combined into a bigger box, so I got to use this one. I’ve been admiring lots of map projects on Pinterest lately, so turning this into a map storage box was an obvious choice.
The project is really easy. Start with a wood box and an out-of-date atlas.
Cut out one of the pages {I chose the Boston area map because Boston is one of my favorite places} and Mod Podge it to the top of the box. I used a coat on the wood, placed the paper on that, then once the first coat dried, I added another coat of Mod Podge to the top. I love how this looks. Free projects are my current favorites. I still have the whole atlas left. What else can I create with vintage map pages?

That’s amazing! I love maps, and this is awesome. A friend of mine makes clutch purses from vintage maps and clear vinyl, which are really cool. I am so following your blog.
Thanks for the compliment and the follow, Juanita! Your friend’s purses sound amazing!
