I love how so many folks on the east coast fly their flags regularly. They have bunting under their windows. Flag poles at their lake houses. The Americana is part of who they are. They don’t seem to save it for special occasions, but display it in everyday life, showing respect, honor, and pride in our country.

 Flag House

In my neighborhood in Missouri, the flags come out mostly for holidays. The same was true when I lived in California. My house is the oddball house with the flag out all year long. I always wonder why the rest of the country doesn’t seem to embrace flying the flag in the way New England does. I do it because I want to live in a Norman Rockwell kind of world even though my hometown isn’t Stockbridge, Massachusetts.
