This is an idea I’ve been wanting to share with you: thoughtful & thrifty themed gifts. I’ve found that once you decide on a theme, you can customize a gift for anyone, while controlling the cost. Today’s theme is cupcakes. Start with a gift bag decorated with cupcakes. You can make your own, or buy this one. Add homemade cupcake scarf (see this tutorial), and some cupcake mix in a mason jar. I made a felt cupcake and put a bobby pin through the back of it, then tied it to the mason jar for decoration. Once the gift is opened, the little decoration becomes a hair clip. The cupcake purse is easy to make, too. Just glue felt and buttons onto a canvas bag (I got this one at Hobby Lobby). If you’re giving this to an adult instead of a child, you could substitute the hair clip and purse for a bottle of Cupcake wine.
What I like about this idea is that it works for birthdays, holidays, or any celebration. Thoughtful gifts that don’t break the bank are my favorite! I have more of these ideas up my sleeve, so look for them in future posts over the next few weeks!
