This project was inspired by the art my husband designed for my We Believe! post. I loved how it incorporated my personality, our family beliefs, and my new blogging adventure, so it seemed perfect to make a sign out of it and display it on the table at my first craft show this weekend.
I started with a tv tray from a set that had been sitting in the garage waiting for a good project (or, according to my husband, getting in the way). I picked the set up at a yard sale for $12 a few months ago.
Only one side of the legs was attached at the top so that the other side could slide and fold. We cut the legs that were attached at an angle like you see in the photo, removing the unattached side of legs altogether. Then we re-attached the cross bar to the new, shorter two legs that were left on the tray. Easy.
Next, we painted the frame red and attached the color print of the art with spray tack. We sized the art to be able to print on an 11 x 17 piece of paper and also fit proportionally within the tv tray. A couple of coats of polyurethane on top and it was done! I love how it looks, a rather sweet combination of my husband’s clean lines and perfect design combined with my more rough-around-the-edges crafting. I think I’ll fold the legs under and hang it on our wall after the craft show.
