Earlier this fall, my daughter did an art project at school in which she had to list things about where she came from. One of the things she listed was that she is from a family never denying the existence of Santa Claus. It’s funny how seeing this in writing made me realize that we are a little unusual, considering our three kids are in college, high school, and middle school; all teenagers.

We don’t deny the existence of Santa Claus because we can’t honestly do so. The language we use to talk about Santa has changed as our kids have matured to more along the lines of We Believe in the spirit of Santa Claus. That’s because we do. It’s within all of us. Any time anyone gives something to another person with absolutely no expectation of recognition, that is the spirit of Santa Claus.

From now until forever, we believe. Do you?
