Wear It On Your Head Wednesday #2
Welcome to the second Wear It On Your Head Wednesday! Today I’m going to show you how to make these headbands:
Start with a headband. I like the Goody headbands because they are very stretchy and fit kids or adults. They come in a pack of all black or multi-colors. They can be washed, too, so if they get too stretched out, washing them shrinks them back to normal size. You’ll also need felt scraps and buttons.
Cut out the felt into the shape you want to make on the headband. I used three layers of different colored felt. I made this flower because I fell for the button first, then found felt scraps that would work with it. It’s always a good idea to play around with the layout of your flower before deciding on the final design. Putting a different color in a layer can really change the whole feel of the design.
Once you have decided on your design, use a needle and thread to sew the button to all the felt layers. Then sew your flower to the headband. I like to sew it right on the seam of the headband, so that the seam will never show, whether the flower is worn on the right or left side. If you can hold all the pieces of the flower in place, you can do both of the sewing steps in the same step, just sewing through all the layers, the button, and the headband. It’s a little more tricky because sometimes the felt slips while you’re sewing, but the result is the same.
Do you make felt flower headbands?

Oh my goodness! Is there anything you can’t do with felt? These are so cute! You should sell them on Etsy! Can you make a baby version too for little girls, maybe substituting something for the buttons?
Come back tomorrow and link up again if you can!
